Instructions and FAQs
Set up your account, run a focused candidate search, and decide when a full Clay enrichment is worth adding.
Start a search
- Create an account with your work email and verify it.
- Add your name and company.
- Upload your LinkedIn connections, or skip this step.
- Paste a public job URL. If the page blocks access, paste the complete job description instead.
- Review the titles, location, exclusions, and target companies.
- Select Find candidates.
- Review the warm paths and AI-generated company analysis before exporting.
The search does not send messages. In-app intro drafting and outside sourcing appear only when those services are configured.
Upload your LinkedIn connections
- Open LinkedIn Settings & Privacy.
- Choose Data privacy.
- Choose Get a copy of your data.
- Select Connections and request the archive.
- Download the archive from LinkedIn’s email.
- Upload
Connections.csv. Do not rename or edit the header row.
Is the upload required?
No. Without it, One Great Hire cannot identify people you already know. Outside sourcing is available only when a provider is configured for the workspace.
What happens when I upload a new file?
The new file replaces the previous network file for your account. It does not affect another user’s network.
Understand the result
Does “sourced” mean a verified second-degree connection?
No. It means the person was returned by a configured provider and was not found in your first-degree upload. It does not claim a verified mutual connection.
Can I edit the search criteria?
Yes. Review and adjust the search brief before running the search. This is the main quality and cost-control gate.
Full Clay enrichment
The free report helps you decide who and where to investigate. Full Clay enrichment is a one-time concierge service tied to one search. Kevin runs the enrichment and quality-checks the output before delivery.
What is included?
The checkout card lists the configured candidate cap, turnaround, output format, and fields before payment. The default scope is work email, current title, company, location, LinkedIn URL, and enrichment confidence where available.
Is every field guaranteed?
No. Coverage depends on the candidate and available source data. Missing data is marked honestly rather than guessed.
Can I add instructions?
Yes. Add priority companies, exclusions, or delivery notes before opening checkout. The approved search brief is attached automatically.
Is this a subscription?
No. It is one payment for one role. A second role requires a separate order.
Billing and delivery
How is payment collected?
Stripe hosts the secure checkout. One Great Hire does not store card details.
When does work begin?
After Stripe confirms payment. Your order moves from Paid to In progress, then Ready.
Where will I receive the result?
The order card inside One Great Hire shows the secure result link when delivery is ready. A notification is also sent to your work email.
What if I cancel checkout?
You are returned to the app and are not charged. You can restart checkout from the same search.
How are refunds handled?
Contact Kevin with the order number. If a refund is issued in Stripe, the order’s payment status updates to Refunded.
Privacy and data use
Who can see my network?
Your uploaded connections are scoped to your account and used for your searches. They are not a public candidate marketplace.
Does One Great Hire scrape LinkedIn?
No. It uses the connections export you request from LinkedIn and upload yourself.
Does the app automatically contact candidates?
No. Candidate outreach remains approval-gated. Nothing is sent merely because a search or enrichment completed.
Troubleshooting
The verification email did not arrive.
Check spam, confirm the work email is correct, then use Resend verification email. The link expires after 24 hours.
The job URL could not be read.
Paste the complete job description. LinkedIn, Workday, and other authenticated or JavaScript-heavy pages may block server retrieval.
The LinkedIn CSV was rejected.
Upload the original Connections.csv from LinkedIn. Confirm the file contains connection rows and its original headers.
Payment succeeded but still says pending.
Wait a few seconds and refresh. Stripe confirms payment through a signed webhook, so the redirect may arrive first.
